Hi guys. Sorry I haven't posted here in a little bit. I'm finding this compartmentalized interface a little daunting: the post screen is separate from the screen with all my posts on it is separate from my reading screen with everyone else's posts on it. It's funny, because these divisions did exist for the most part on Tumblr (all my posts were separate from the dash, and clicking on the new post icon hid the dashboard), but I found the UX easier to navigate there. Hopefully with time I will adjust.

One thing that is a shame is not having an askbox, because answering comment prompts is awkward. In order for a ficlet to show up in people's reading view, I am making a new post for the ficlet and then linking to it from a reply to the prompt comment...but this adds a whole lot of steps that weren't necessary at all on Tumblr. On Tumblr all I had to do was reply to the ask.

I also find the inbox a little difficult to manage. On AO3, I literally keep every comment. I have never deleted anything from my inbox except when I was deleting an abusive comment on a work (which has happened surprisingly infrequently). On Tumblr, my inbox has over 600 asks in it. Y'all don't even want to see my email. I am just really messy with inboxes I guess! But here I'm trying to use the inbox to keep track of conversations, and it's been pretty difficult. I have gone ahead and deleted the subscribe/access notifications to clean things up some; hopefully that will help.

So yeah, I dunno. Still trying to figure things out. I will have an update to In a New Light going up tomorrow (hopefully...I need to work on it today) and I'll make a post here then. And I'll poke at the other five-sentence ficlet prompts at some point.

I'm still feeling terrible for the artists who have lost a very effective platform for sharing their work and building an audience. I don't know what the best thing to do is, other than share what I can where I can.

So...that's where I'm at! Hope you guys are doing okay.
