At one time I was going to try to use Dreamwidth for fic-writing activities, but I ended up doing that on Twitter. Now that I'm leaving Twitter, I'm going back to Tumblr for fic-writing, and I'm going to try to use this place for posts about life.
So how about The Rise of Kylo Ren #1?

Dec. 13th, 2019 09:47 amSo I started playing this phone game called The Arcana. It's really beautiful and has this rich worldbuilding and gorgeous music. But I'm finding myself frustrated by the way it works. To see all the content, you have to spend in-game coins. You can earn coins a couple different ways. You can also purchase them with real money. I spent $20 on coins right away because I knew I would want to see more story, but I have barely started playing and I've already spent them all. I want to see just how quickly this would add up.

More Rare Pairs!

Flustered - canon divergent, obianidala. SUPER sweet, and I just love the sheer hopefulness of this fic. The galaxy isn't perfect, but they're fighting to make it better!
Greater Good - canon divergent, obianidala, but this has basically the exact opposite tone of the previous fic, lol. Evil Padmé is terrifying (and hot).
Ostinato - canon divergent(?), Kylo/Qi'ra. This is amazing.
Inhuman Intelligence - canonverse, Original Imperial Engineer Furious the Empire Destroyed Scarif Archive/Original Rebel Recruiter. Oh my god, I just love the dry humor in this.
she was alive (she was caught on fire) - canon divergent, Oola/Luke Skywalker. Just lovely. Let's pretend this actually happened.
This or Nothing At All - canonverse, gingerpilot. I love this. Their ridiculous relationship, made poignant. And that ending!
search parties - canon divergent, Ben Organa/Rose Tico. This is SUCH a great pairing and it's PERFECT here.
Knight Amidala - canon divergent, Padmé/Obi-Wan, Padmé lives. There is so much to love about this story. Padmé and Obi-Wan's relationship alone is incredible, but then there's everything else. A brilliant AU.

Works were revealed today, but authors won't be revealed till next weekend, so I can't link you to my fic. However, I have read some incredible works today and I wanted to share them.
First off, the gift for me: i knew you when/i'll know you then - amileia, canonverse, 6,198 words. GOSH it's just perfect. It's everything I asked for and more in a Leia/Amilyn fic. (I love how Ben is used in the story. So much.)
the light looks after you - reyrose, canonverse, 10,987 words. This is such a beautiful and hopeful story!
Justify the Means - reysma, canonverse, 3,333 words. Phasma is captured. Rey is tempted to use the Force to interrogate her. I was riveted.
And finally...
sweet ride - Poe Dameron/Original Male-Presenting Starship That Gains Sapience And A Human Body, canonverse, 2,989 words. PLEASE READ THIS.
And there are so many more. I've barely scratched the surface of the collection. Go forth and enjoy!
My fandom social media usage policy
Feb. 10th, 2019 11:56 amIn order to improve my fandom experience, I will not follow accounts that:
- are mostly negative, posting frequently about why things are bad; this includes anything from complaints to jokes
- post screencaps of other fan accounts in order to complain about or make fun of them
- engage in hate of any ship or fan community
- make fun of or complain about other people's ideas about entertainment
- regularly insist that there is only one proper interpretation of a story
- reply to creators with insults
I will not block unless absolutely necessary, because I would still like to see and retweet fandom content from everyone.
These guidelines will be updated as needed.
Some reysma for your reading pleasure
Jan. 19th, 2019 02:09 pmYesterday, I wrote a canonverse Rey/Phasma fic on Twitter, and today I reformatted it and cleaned it up a little and put it on AO3, titled Oasis. It's PWP but also a Phasma character study. I hope you like!

New Twitter account
Dec. 30th, 2018 05:33 pm--
I have a new, public Twitter account at coselia. I'm currently in the process of tweeting links to my AO3 fics, and in the future I'll use this account to link to both AO3 fics and ficlets that I post here. I'll also use it to link to/retweet other people's fanworks.
Feel free to follow! I haven't followed anyone there yet but I plan to eventually.

One thing that is a shame is not having an askbox, because answering comment prompts is awkward. In order for a ficlet to show up in people's reading view, I am making a new post for the ficlet and then linking to it from a reply to the prompt comment...but this adds a whole lot of steps that weren't necessary at all on Tumblr. On Tumblr all I had to do was reply to the ask.
I also find the inbox a little difficult to manage. On AO3, I literally keep every comment. I have never deleted anything from my inbox except when I was deleting an abusive comment on a work (which has happened surprisingly infrequently). On Tumblr, my inbox has over 600 asks in it. Y'all don't even want to see my email. I am just really messy with inboxes I guess! But here I'm trying to use the inbox to keep track of conversations, and it's been pretty difficult. I have gone ahead and deleted the subscribe/access notifications to clean things up some; hopefully that will help.
So yeah, I dunno. Still trying to figure things out. I will have an update to In a New Light going up tomorrow (hopefully...I need to work on it today) and I'll make a post here then. And I'll poke at the other five-sentence ficlet prompts at some point.
I'm still feeling terrible for the artists who have lost a very effective platform for sharing their work and building an audience. I don't know what the best thing to do is, other than share what I can where I can.
So...that's where I'm at! Hope you guys are doing okay.

Dec. 9th, 2018 09:30 pmNo restrictions; no expectations; no demands for his time, no urgent calls for his attention; no orders or obligations. Just...nothing. Nothing, except endless possibility, the possibility of a home, a life, far away from here, just the two of them—
Armitage's eyes snapped open, and as expected, there was Ren, fingers pressed to Armitage's temple and a half-guilty, half-pleading look on his face. Armitage knocked Ren's hand away, glaring; with effort, he hissed, "Never do that again," and then he rolled onto his side, away from Ren's soft touch and watery eyes.
Update: I didn't realize how late it was! I am falling asleep at my desk. Will write stories in the morning! Please feel free to keep sending prompts.

Dec. 2nd, 2018 07:21 pmThe key gave him fits going into the lock. It was like it was trying not to let him get into his own apartment. When it finally went in and turned, a fucking miracle, Kylo kicked the door open so hard it slammed into the entryway wall.
“Fuck!” he announced.
“Jesus,” Rey responded from the couch, where she was cuddled up in a blanket with Rose and Finn. “Psycho much?”
“I just.” Kylo tried to get his anger under control. “I can’t. With that guy.” He closed the door with slightly less power than he’d used to open it, and the front window rattled in its frame.“We got pizza,” Rey said, poking one hand out of the blanket to gesture at the coffee table. “You can have some.”

Nov. 25th, 2018 02:43 pmPrompted by huxandthehound on Tumblr: First sentence prompt: “Of course it was snowing.”
Of course it was, because why would anything at all go right for him? It was the fitting end to this terrible day: start by accidentally confessing feelings to his Greek god of a roommate, as if Kylo saw him as anything more than half the rent; spend the next twelve hours killing himself at work; and now trudge home in the freezing cold wearing nothing more than a light jacket.
Armitage had resigned himself to his fate, stuffing his hands as deep into his pockets as he could, when suddenly something heavy and warm fell over his shoulders. “I saw you didn’t take a coat this morning, and I didn’t want you to freeze,” Kylo said, because of course it was Kylo, of course he would be here to witness Armitage’s misfortune again, and then, even worse, of course, Kylo barreled on, “Also, I didn’t get a chance to say anything this morning…”
“You don’t have to say anything,” Armitage interrupted, and he was going to deny it, going to pretend it had never happened, but before he could say anything else Kylo had tugged him close by the lapels of the coat he’d brought—and then, somehow, Kylo was kissing him, Kylo’s lips were moving against Armitage’s mouth and Kylo’s teeth were grazing Armitage’s bottom lip, and the world fell away, the cold and the snow and the exhaustion too, and Armitage felt lost and found all at once.
